Pharrell is Joining Rihanna's New Style Network Reality Show, 'Styled to Rock'

Following the announcement late last year that Styled to Rock, Rihanna's debut fashion reality show in the UK, had been canned due to low ratings—and the follow-up announcement that th rights to the show had be acquired Stateside by the Style Network—here's another exciting development: Pharrell will be joining the US version of Styled to Rock, and the American edition of the show is set to premiere later this year.

Styled to Rock, USA edition, will follow 12 up-and-coming fashion designers the opportunity to create pieces for celebrities. The designers will face a series of challenges over the course of the 10-week series. Each contestant will have a celebrity mentor, and designers will be eliminated each week, depending on their performance.

At the very least, getting on the show sounds like a really good opportunity to spend some quality time with some of the music industry's biggest stars.

"Pharrell's unique aesthetic and commitment to individuality combined with Rihanna's vision for this series will enable our aspiring designers to hone their craft and learn from the very people who set the trends," said Style Media President Salaan Coleman Smith.

This isn't Pharrell's first foray into fashion—not by a long shot. The multi-Grammy-winning producer and artist has his own clothing lines—Billionaire Boys Club, Billionaire Girls Club, Bee Line, IceCream—and he's designed jewelry and accessories for heavy-hitters such as Louis Vuitton. He's collaborated with Moncler, worked with Takashi Murakami, and established the creative venture i am OTHER.

Oh Hey, Look Who's Blonde Again—It's Rihanna! + New Balmain Blouse

The length and Skrillex-y shaved side still seem to be in tact, but the hue is certainly much lighter than the caramel color (not to mention ultra-dark roots) she was snapped with last week (see below).

The real hair shocker she gave fans, though, was first spotted by E! News—a platinum blunt-banged bob, which presumably was a wig from one of the two photoshoots (told you, busy) she had yesterday.

One shoot was for River Island and the other for her partnership with MAC, in case you're dying to know. We're sure Instagram photos—possibly another hair surprise?—will follow soon. Any minute now...

In other Rih Rih news...

She was spotted heading to Da Silvano, one of her favorite eateries in NYC. She stopped for a few moments to take pictures with fans and even confirmed the next single from her latest album, Unapologetic. Fans will be happy to know that “Pour It Up” is the third song receiving the video treatment from Unapologetic. Interestingly enough, the song has already sold over 1 million units in the US, so I’m sure the song receiving the official video treatment will only aid in its success.

Rihanna's "Fifth Element" Shoe Choice!

Even if you're a big Rihanna fan, her latest look is probably going to confuse you. We're pretty used to Ri-Ri's head-scratching style moments, but when she was spotted at LAX today (after buzz about her canceling a slew of shows) she looked especially interesting.

The pop star wore a pair of denim cutoffs under a really long black tunic with cropped sides. A gold Peter Pan collar and a backwards baseball cap that read "Boy" accessorized her look. But oh, it gets weirder. Just take a look at the footwear she sported for her travels: bright white brace-like knee-high Alexander Wang boots with a chunky heel. Compelling choice. Rihanna's Cool Twist Look

Need a breather from braids? Or want a look that's just as cool, but takes about, oh, half the styling time? Answer: Yes. Yes, you do.

Well, ladies and gents, feast your eyes on Rihanna's twist on the ever-stylish side-braid — it's a side-twist!

Instead of sectioning off her hair three ways, the singer went old-school — perhaps inspired by her DKNY sweatsuit circa 1991? — with the side-braid's younger sis, an easier-to-DIY two-piece twist. It's kiiiind of like the look we used to rock back on the playground (nostalgia points!) but the sharp side part and twisted bangs make it more office than classroom, don't you think?

A tale of caution, if you learned anything from the jungle gym, you'll know that twists don't hold all that well. (Especially after lots of boy-chasing, er, errand running.) SNEAK PEEK :: Rihanna's River Island Collection [VIDEO]

Rihanna has already teased a few images from her forthcoming River Island collaboration on Instagram, but today, we got to see the pieces in action.



In this clip, originally posted on Vogue UK's website, models flit in and out of the the pop star's design studio, while she expounds on fashion.

"Every time I saw something on a rack there was something I wanted to do to it to change it," Rihanna says.

So, judging by the clothes in the clip, when she saw a t-shirt, she probably thought, "Hmm, that would look much better if it were completely backless."
