Kim Kardashian’s Wedding Dress Will Be Designed by Vera Wang

After months of insisting on the utmost secrecy on all things surrounding her wedding gown, even reportedly forcing Vera Wang's staff to sign confidentiality agreements and then walking around in public with the designer in a totally inconspicuous outfit so no one could possibly notice them, Kim Kardashian made a surprise announcement: Vera Wang is making her dress! This is unsurprising for all of the above reasons, but also because Wang made Khloe Kardashian's wedding dress last year, and is arguably the most famous bridal designer in the nation.

MEN :: Color Coordination

Basic Color Schemes
Monochromatic: The first thing you'll want to do is Google Image search "color wheel" (that elementary school-looking one sans text will do just fine). Monochromatic color schemes are, perhaps, the easiest to pull off, because they involve isolating one slice of the color wheel and working with the hues and shades within it. Translation? Let's take the color blue: straight-leg dark-blue (shade) jeans and chambray (hue) button-down layered under a navy (shade) two-button blazer = success.

Complementary: These are colors that are directly opposite each other on the wheel. That's why when men's fashion sources (including ours) praise navy suits worn with brown shoes, this isn't some fashion editor pushing crap on you; this is simply how color coordination works.

Split Complementary: This refers to one base color (say, blue) and the two colors adjacent to its complementary one (in this case, red-orange and orange-yellow). These adjacent colors can easily be incorporated into a tie, pocket square or socks.

Kelly Rowland Is the Face of Diddy’s New Perfume

R&B songbird Kelly Rowland has been tapped to be the spokesmodel for Diddy‘s new women’s fragrance line Empress. The ‘Motivation’ singer revealed to celebrity-news show ‘Access Hollywood’ that she will be the face of the rap mogul’s perfume, which is the female version of his successful men’s cologne I Am King.

“Yeah, I’m the new ambassador for ‘Empress’; I just love what ‘Empress’ represents,” she says. “It’s just women that are beautiful and powerful in their own right.”

According to a press release, the fragrance is designed for a powerful woman who inspires others. The Empress woman also has “men long[ing] to be by her side and women want[ing] to know her secrets.”

“I created Empress for the woman who is powerful beyond all others,” said Diddy via a statement. “With its crisp, fruity, floral notes, this perfume will make you feel regal indeed!”

The fragrance will be sold exclusive at Macy’s stores in August and will cost between $50-74.

Big Sean Talks Men's Fashion + Kanye as a Style Influence

Your mentor, Kanye West, is undoubtedly one of the most fashionable men in music. What have you learned from Kanye style-wise?
BS: I’ve learned that whatever you want to do is cool. I think that’s probably the biggest thing that I’ve learned from him about fashion. You always have to remember that you’re an icon and whatever you do is going to be remembered. Can your look be immortalized? Jimmy Hendrix’s boots are in a museum; what will I have to put in a museum?
What effect do you think Kanye's bold fashion choices have made on hip-hop. Have they raised the bar for rappers?
BS: I think Kanye brought a whole new style to the game, and he made it cool to be yourself. You don’t have to wear big-ass throwback jerseys all the time. You can wear polos. I think he opened up the gates and was like, “Yo, man, it’s cool that you want to dress like this.”
If you could snag anything from Ye's closet what would it be?

BS: Probably the whole closet. There’s so much sh*t in there that it’s really hard to pick just one thing. He has hella, hella, super-crazy, ridiculous amount of clothes.

Balmain to Release New Lower-Priced Line, ‘Pierre Balmain’

You are looking at the first images of Pierre Balmain, a new line by Balmain created in a deal with Ittiere SpA, which also licenses lines like Just Cavalli. So instead of new Balmain designer Olivier Rousteing overseeing design, an "independent design team" is working on it. The difference between Pierre Balmain and Balmain, aside from the addition of a first name, is mainly price. "We see Pierre Balmain as a new and unique brand whose distinctive look and product respond to the needs and desires of today’s marketplace," Balmain’s chairman and CEO Alain Hivelin says in a press release. In the rough economic climate, those needs and desires are, probably, not for more flag jackets with $20,000 price tags, or for more tees with holes in them with $1,600 tags. Pierre Balmain launches for the spring 2012 season with tees starting at €120 ($174), jeans at €250 ($363), jackets at €350 ($508), and suits at €650 ($944). And in the burgeoning tradition of fashion brands finding fun new ways to use the Internet when they start doing fun new things, Pierre Balmain will promote itself with short, online video clips, rather than an ad campaign.

David Beckham Coming Out With Underwear Line for H&M

A stream of consciousness recount of this morning's email scan: Another boring summer day for fashion news. Can't be anything good happening this early on a Thursday in JULY. Oh wait, David Beckham? Getting somewhere ... Bodywear? Translates to underwear. Something to care about! Attachment — pictures? Text-only press release. Stay awake, stay awake. Wait, H&M? Don't they usually hire actual designers to do these lines?

So evidently the chain is making an exception for Beckham, like they did for Madonna. His bodywear, translates to underwear, will go on sale at 1800 H&M stores in 40 countries on February 2, 2012, in time for Valentine's Day, everyone's least-depressing non-holiday. Still, there's something jarring about H&M, which has done lines in the past with Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, and Comme des Garcons, among others, doing a celebrity line of underpants now. Maybe it's just because the Madonna line launched so long ago it's hard to remember it. This is not troubling to H&M, whose press release easily qualifies Beckham:
Considered by many to be one of the most marketable individuals in the world ...
Really, he may as well be doing a line of headbands.

Dawn Richard In Bettie Page Platform Heels

Bad Boy artist Dawn Richard showed off her amazing legs this week as she transformed into her alter ego ‘Neon’ for her new video ‘Fantasy’, featuring T-Pain. On the set, she wore an Avnah Courture feather vest and ridiculous high heels designed by Bettie Page.

The boot dawns a 5.5 inch heel, which will elevate you to at least 7 3/4 inches off of the ground. Wicked!
