CONFIRMED: Kate Spade New York Launching Lower-Priced Line, 'Saturday'

This summer, we brought you the news that Kate Spade New York was about to launch a new brand called Saturday—a line "more casual than anything [Kate Spade] has done before," according to then-secret sources. Well, today we can confirm that Kate Spade is, indeed, launching a new label called Saturday—and that it will hit stores this spring and, also, will be awesome.

According to a statement released by the company just after midnight this morning, the new lifestyle brand will include clothing—dresses, outerwear, denim, casual separates, knitwear, and swim—accessories including bags, jewelry, timepieces, shoes, and eyewear, as well as beauty products, home goods, and tableware. Prices will range from about $25 for home products to $30 for jewelry, $50 for watches, and an average MSRP of $90 for clothing items.
"Through ongoing research, we saw an opportunity in the market to engage a new customer base—one that aspires to be a part of the Kate Spade New York brand," said CEO Craig Leavitt. "Kate Spade Saturday is born from the core values of Kate Spade New York, but is realized in a new and exciting way for this younger customer."
Kate Spade Saturday will launch in Japan this February at saturday.jp and at a brick-and-mortar store in Tokyo. The brand will launch in the United States online at saturday.com in the spring. Look for a sneak peek at the products (before spring officially hits) on fab.com in 2013!

How excited are you to get your hands on lower-priced super-cute Kate Spade New York fun stuff! We are so excited! Tell us what you're most excited about in the comments, below. Is it the apparel or the shoes (the shoes!) or maybe even the handbags?

Azealia Banks Is Boycotting Dolce & Gabbana's 'Corny, Racist' Spring Collection

(Getty and Imaxtree)
Dolce & Gabbana's spring 2013 collection was controversial the moment it hit the catwalk at Milan Fashion Week in September, thanks to the designers' repeated use of Blackamoor-inspired and imperialist imagery. While many D&G devotees are willing to overlook to the problematic racial implications of the collection, there's at least one celebrity who has taken a stand against cultural appropriation and exploitation: Up-and-coming rapper Azealia Banks.

For those not in the know, Banks, a Harlem native, is probably the best thing to happen to lady rap since Missy Elliott — and she's not afraid to say what she thinks. In a series of tweets on Sunday, Banks wrote: Definitely boycotting Dolce & Gabanna. Whoever designed that racist a** Dolce and Gabanna collection needs a swift kick in the mouth and a big d**k up the a**. I really hate when people do corny, racist things then try to justify it as "art." It's all just really unnecessary. the clothes in the collection were fine without all the "black mammie" imagery. Banks has become a fashion darling since the release of her mixtape Fantasea earlier this year. Her song "Bambi" soundtracked the Mugler show in Paris in January, and she also hit shows in Milan and London last month.

A few hours after she called out Dolce & Gabbana, she threw another Italian luxury label some Twitter love: "Purchased my first Gucci Item today. so weird, i have stuff from all the other houses but finally made a gucci purchase. the shoes r boss!"

CAPSULE: Here's a Cute Video Full of Awesome Outfit Ideas!

(Photo via Vimeo)
Every season Capsule—one of the biggest and coolest trade shows held in New York, Paris, Berlin, and Las Vegas—showcases a mix of collections from high-end contemporary brands and directional downtown-ish designers.

All sorts of edgy-meets-quirky looks and super-slick brands like YMC, Sperry, Chinti & Parker, and Mark McNairy were just featured at the women’s spring 2013 show—and we've got an exclusive sneak peek of some of their most stylish pieces!

If you're looking to spruce up your style with a little urban attitude this season, check out these five fun outfit ideas—straight from the Capsule trade show—that you can still wear this fall:

Pattern Play:

Spring or fall, a printed shirtdress is a fun, no-fuss way to showcase your personal style. We love this version for its simple-yet-statement-making pattern—plus a drawsting waist flatters every silhouette!

Quirk Alert:

Multi-colored hearts put a quirky spin on the classic polka-dot sweater. To toughen up cutesy pieces, just add leather for an instant a dose of downtown edge.

Take a Mint:

Mint can be extra-feminine or indie and urban, depending on how you style it. To lift the pretty pastel pieces from their sweet status, try complementing them with contemporary patterns in coordinating hues.

Look of the Day: Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen

(Getty)
Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen attended the WSJ. Magazine's "Innovator of the Year" awards last night wearing a label close to their hearts—their very own, The Row.

As per usual, the twins were attached at the hip, looking enviably sleek. Ashley Olsen went for a long, loose-fitting, black V-neck dress from The Row's spring 2013 collection. Mary-Kate Olsen tried something a little bit more tailored, sporting the twins' spring 2013 navy blue suit. She couldn't escape her usual drapery, though, and wore a long matching scarf up front.

What do you think, did these girls knock it out of the park? Look at the rest of the pictures below, and let us know what you think in the comments!

Solange Covers ELLE South Africa!

WOW! Solange is WORKING!

Solange is becoming the mixed pattern queen, and taking her talents ALL over the globe! Making every trip count, while Solo was in South Africa shooting her latest visuals for "Losing You", she also shot her cover for ELLE Magazine South Africa!

For the shoot, Solange assisted stylist and fashion editor Asanda Sizani with picking out pieces by South African designers that most suited her style. They chose tons of mix and match patterns and the yellow cover was chosen in post production to fit her ‘sunny personality’. According to the feature writer, who interviewed Solo:
My interview with her was an incredible experience. We sat in her penthouse at 15 on Orange on the Thursday night and chatted while she had her nails done. It didn’t feel like a formal interview at all, and we chatted our way through the points I wanted to cover. The sense I got throughout the interview was that she is a real person; a young mom who is doing what she loves.
