Fashion's fascination with well-dressed women on bikes has increased exponentially since Sartorialist Scott Schuman made them the focus of many of his street style features. Now, designer Phillip Lim is proclaiming his love for women on wheels with Girls on Bikes, a short film dedicated to cycling style mavens.
Film is a growing trend in the fashion industry and is an interesting vehicle (no pun intended!) to show clothes in another light. Girls on Bikes features artsy shots of three models riding bikes while dressed in Lim's Fall 2011 collection. It captures the collection's elegant yet urban spirit as the girls cycle around San Francisco in outfits that combine sport and luxe to transition from day to night. Lim says,
"It's about these chic girls on bikes, riding to work, to an art gallery, a party—where she goes is a mystery, because you only see her for that instant, but the thought of her lingers on in your mind."
