The Best and Worst Dressed at the MTV Video Music Awards 2011

The MTV Video Music Awards are famous for bringing out the most daring red carpet styles. Worlds collide when music meets movies and stars like Zoe Saldana and (now pregnant!) Beyonce make an appearance at arguably the most zany award show of the year. From Katy Perry in Atelier Versace to Kim Kardashian in Kaufman Franco, check out the VMA's most notable fashion statements!

Beyonce showed off her baby bump in an asymmetrical Lanvin dress. The mommy-to-be paired her red hot dress with a pair of bold diamond earrings and a casual side ponytail. We can't wait to watch Beyonce's pregnancy style evolve!

Selena Gomez took a walk on the dark side in a dramatic lacy frock. The teen star opted for a black dress with a high collar, lace paneling detail and an asymmetrical hem. Selena punctuated the look with a simple updo and shiny gold pumps. Are you loving Selena's dark ensemble?

Zoe Saldana took the plunge into the deep-v trend for the VMAs this year. The actress opted for a sleek Barbara Bui LBD with a beaded bodice and leather cap sleeves. Minx print ankle-warp platforms, an Egyptian gold bangle and a box clutch were Zoe's statement accessories of choice.

Kim Kardashian sparkled in a sexy Kaufman Franco gown. The silver sequined dress with a plunging neckline showed off Kim's signature curves. She finished off the look with a cuff bracelet and sleek straight hair. Her prettiest accessory? Her newlywed glow!

Va-va-voom! Demi Lovato hit up the VMAs with a vengeance. The Disney star sparkled in a mini silver cocktail dress with a deep-v. Voluminous ombre waves and matching sparkling platforms topped of her stunning style.

Katy Perry showed off her pink 'do in a whimsical Atelier Versace dress. Katy, known for her outrageous red carpet ensembles, opted for a geisha-inspired baby blue mini dress with embroidered cherry blossom-shaped sequins and crystals. Katy finished off the fun look with a matching parasol and cherry blossoms tucked in her bright pink curly hair.

The MTV VMAs would not be complete without the legendary Britney Spears. The diva stepped out in a drop-waist iridescent Moschino dress. Brit's biggest statement, however, was in her heavy-duty footwear—a pair of black patent mid-calf peep-toe platforms.

Miley Cyrus was a knock-out on the MTV white carpet in a floor-sweeping Roberto Cavalli gown. The burn-out design combined Roberto's signature tiger stripes with faded Japanese flower print. A romantic updo and silver jewelry added sparkle to Miley's elegant look.

Adele, the women who took the world by storm this year with her sophomore album, opted for a demure look at the VMAs in a black long-sleeve LBD. Black platforms pumps with orange piping and her signature '60s 'do completed her sweet style.

Wowza. Nicki Minaj took her statement red carpet looks to a whole new level for the VMAs in a creation that is beyond words. Tim Burton meets Japanese street fashion in this extravagant ensemble incorporating a mask, a multi-colored stacked wig, a mirrored dress and chain of stuffed animals. Enough said.

Kelly Rowland stunned in a feathered and sexy ensemble. The black and gold embroidered dress with a plunging neckline, feathered skirt and leather detailing was perfectly dramatic for the star-studded event. Kelly finished off the look with black spiked peep-toe Christian Louboutin pumps and her signature sleek 'do.

JoJo was all grown up in a black bustier dress. While the sheer panels on the front and side of the dress showed off her sexier side, the full bubble skirt overwhelmed her petite frame. JoJo completed the look with black platform pumps, a cuff bracelet and sleek tresses.

Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi stepped up the glamour at the MTV VMAs in a strapless orange and black Ema Savahl cocktail dress encrusted with an abstract design. The Jersey Shore gal came equipped with her dark tan and thick curled locks with fresh blond highlights. Gold jewelry and glittering pumps completed her look—but we still miss the pouf.

The MTV VMA's Eccentric Style Showdown

Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj and Lady Gaga are the reigning red carpet queens of quirky boundary-pushing ensembles: Lady Gaga's meat dress, Katy Perry's sequined Smurfette frock, and Nicki Minaj's leopard print bodysuit with matching Elvira hair all exemplify the ladies' memorable fashion statements. There's no doubt it has become nothing less than a one-upmanship of weirdness, leaving us to kick back and enjoy the fashion showdown.

For the MTV VMAs, each of the divas showed up in her own version of promise-to-get-talked-about looks. Katy Perry won in sheer quantity of wacky wardrobes—racking up a total of five ensembles for the night. Most notably, she started out the night in a geisha-inspired Atelier Versace frock. Katy added to the theme by carrying a paper umbrella and wore flowers in her hot pink curls. She later took to the stage in a Christian Dior Fall 2011 Couture look straight from the runway (cheese headwear included). The quirky diva followed this look with a custom shimmering record dress and matching 3-D hair piece.

But perhaps the most unexpected? Lady Gaga in a suit. The pop diva took an entirely different route than her usual provocative body-baring ensembles. Her latest way to shock the masses? With modesty. Oh, and a heavy dose of gender-bending. Lady G both walked the red carpet and performed in a Brooks Brothers suit. Her hair was styled in a retro Elvis 'do complete with side-burns and gruff facial expressions. This songstress is all about commitment.

Nicki Minaj must have predicted stiff competition because she took her bizarre red carpet style to a whole new level. We're not sure who designed this ensemble, but our bet is that Tim Burton and Japanese street fashion had a strong influence. Nicki was armored in a metallic bodysuit and mask, wore fuzzy slippers, a hot pink and yellow wig and carried around a chain of stuffed animals as an accessory.

It's hard to call a winner of the eccentric night, but the epic battle will undoubtedly continue.

Beyonce Knowles In Dolce & Gabbana

Mr Dolce and Mr Gabbana many have had to make some last minute alterations to Beyonce Knowles’ Fall 2011 look before her performance at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards tonight.

She maybe pregnant, but she’s not slowing down just yet.

The singer put in an energetic performance on stage at the Nokia Theatre LA Live, much to the delight of her fans.

A masculine tuxedo look included a purple sequin jacket with wide black lapels which was teamed with a white shirt with a fitted black band and black loose-fitting pants.

Look of the Day: Beyonce Knowles in Lanvin

Beyonce Knowles certainly had that pregnancy glow at the MTV VMAs! The newly announced mother-to-be donned a one-shoulder citrus orange kaftan by Lanvin.

The vibrant draped number was both elegant and avant-garde—perfect for the VMAs. Beyonce added sparkle to her look with a pair of Lorraine Schwartz shoulder-dusters and a large emerald ring.

A side-swept ponytail accentuated her light to dark ombre waves. Later, Beyonce performed on-stage during the award show wearing a sequined blazer from Dolce & Gabbana's Fall 2011 collection. We're eager to see Beyonce's maternity style flourish!

Nike Air Max CB34 - White/Varsity Purple-Black-Orange Blaze

Shoe for shoe, Charles Barkley's Nike signature sneaker line ranks amongst the best. Last fall, we saw the classic CB34 return to retail in an original colorway for the first time since 1995. Since then, the model has released in a couple of previously unreleased colorways, like "Wolf Grey" and "Glass Blue." To bookend those releases, the white-based original scheme is officially dropping next month and has even turned up at a few online retailers early.

The CB34 was nicknamed the "Godzillas" because of the teeth print that ran along the side of the shoe. That design cue was implemented as a reference to the Godzilla vs. Charles Barkley ad campaign that ran in the 90s. This pair features a mostly white upper with black accenting the tongue, heel pull-tab, teeth design and midsole. Varsity purple handles branding and elements of the outsole, while Orange Blaze completes the look on contrast stitching, the Max Air unit and outsole as well.

The Air Max CB34 is slated to drop at Nike retailers next month, but has surfaced at Premier early.

Real vs. Steal: Get Rosie Huntington-Whiteley's Glam '70s Look for Less

While setting the world on fire this summer to promote Transformers, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley wowed in a luxe ivory Michael Kors ensemble. The model-turned-actress was a sexy '70s siren in Kors' sparkling low-cut bodysuit and belted high-waisted slacks. Although it's not hard for the statuesque Brit to impress, this was the perfect of-the-moment choice for her appearance on The Late Show With David Letterman.

Beloved by Hollywood for his classic designs, Michael Kors did not disappoint with his Fall 2011 collection. He offered a clean vision for the cooler seasons, filled with soft neutrals and crisp lines. Hilary Swank is already a fan, having worn an almost identical look earlier this year. The difference? Hilary opted for for a long-sleeved bodysuit from the collection instead of Rosie's deep low-cut number.

If you're dying to glam it up a la Rosie, but don't have thousands of dollars to drop, check out Oasis' satin and crepe jumpsuit. Although slightly more blush in hue and lacking the deep-v, the $130 jumpsuit offers a similar vibe to Rosie's knockout look.

Look of the Day: Lake Bell in Cushnie et Ochs

Talk about bondage-chic! Lake Bell brought the heat to the LA premiere of A Good Old Fashioned Orgy in a black Cushnie et Ochs cocktail dress. The dress was already a red carpet hit when Kelly Rowland wore the Fall 2011 style to her new album launch in July.

The dramatic cut-outs and elastic "ribs" of the sleek dress gave a skeletal look to the avant-garde design. A thigh-high front slit took the sex appeal up a notch further.

Lake's killer stare and sleek messy updo completed her ravishing look. The actress accessorized with a sparkling gold bangle and carried a matching box clutch. Ferragamo cap-toe pumps added another touch of shine to her ensemble.

Look of the Day: Jennifer Lopez in 3.1 Phillip Lim

It's official—tie-tops are back! This weekend Rihanna performed in a denim crop top and scandalous hot pants, while Jennifer Lopez filmed her new music video in a 3.1 Phillip Lim romper that appeared to be a pair of high-waisted pleated shorts and a knotted chiffon blouse.

JLo's day chic piece was paired with two pendant necklaces and a white leather hobo bag. Stacked ivory Gucci platforms with ankle wrap straps and black piping made us take note of exactly why she is the Gillette Venus spokesmodel.

Thick highlighted waves and neutral makeup topped off the diva's subdued style. We're eager to see what show-stopping style Jennifer has in store for the next season of American Idol.

Hollywood Loves Leather Shorts - [Trend]

Is it getting hot in here or is it just these black leather short shorts? While leather leggings were all the rage on the red carpet this past year, summer has brought out the love of skin in a shorter form.

Rihanna took to the stage in the UK for the V festival wearing scandalous high-waisted hot pants adorned with pearls and jeweled rosettes. Meanwhile, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley took a casual approach to the versatile style in a pair of pleated cuffed shorts, a blousy tank and ankle boots while grocery shopping.

Rachel Bilson made the biker babe trend ultra-classy with a sleek blazer, stiletto heels and a crocheted top for the Chanel party in France. Olivia Palermo took the lead on the trend back in May by wearing a pair of Tibi pleated shorts that were paired with a sparkling clutch and green satin pumps—classic eclectic Olivia.

Celebs Embrace the Aztec Influence

History of Aztec & Influences on Fashion

The Aztec style originates from Mexico and was influenced by a long history of tribes. Traditionally, the art prints reflected the appreciation for insects, birds, fish and animals. 21st Century Aztec trends made their first appearance back in 2009 at the spring/summer catwalk show for Matthew Williamson.

Aztec & The Catwalks Now

This June, Diane Von Furstenberg featured the Mexican influenced designs in her 2012 resort collection by using a lot of bold nature inspired prints. L.A.M.B and Missoni also incorporated Aztec prints in to their spring/summer 2011 collections, bringing a more modern feel with the use of bright colours.

The Aztec Trend: Celebrities' Choice

The celebrity world has already caught on to this trend and chooses to sport the look in the form of Aztec printed knit wear, dresses and skirts.

Kim Kardashian is seen below wearing an Aztec printed jersey maxi dress. Daughter of Lenny, Zoe Kravitz is wearing an interesting multi coloured Aztec jacket, whilst Rihanna chooses a more sober Aztec shrug. Lucy Hale attended a recent ceremony wearing an Aztec print skirt accessorised with an Aztec influenced bangle. Ashley Tilsdale chose a cute metallic printed Aztec mini dress and model Arlenis Sosa looks super chic in her vibrant techno Aztec dress:

Beyonce Models for House of Deréon

Beyonce rocks a pair of satin hot pants and sheer thigh highs in the just-released ads for House of Deréon for Selfridges department store. The new UK extension of her line will be launched in September. According to The Telegraph, Tina Knowles says,
"Beyoncé and I are so proud of the line-up and we can't wait to see the consumer's response and how she makes it her own."

Real vs. Steal: Get Rosario Dawson's Star Print Dress for Less

A patriotic Rosario Dawson recently hit the AXE Lounge in a playful Dolce & Gabbana star print dress. The exotic beauty balanced her dress' voluminous balloon sleeves with a sleek 'do and low-key accessories, including a wristful of bangles and a red, white and blue manicure. A closer look at her Fall 2011 frock revealed a layer of larger stars underneath the ditzy star print chiffon overlay.

Season after season, Dolce & Gabbana's flirtatious designs have proven to be favorites among the Hollywood set. While the designers' white lace dresses ruled the red carpet earlier this year, celebrities have now become star-struck by their new celestial collection. Fergie rocked the Teen Choice Awards in a yellow-and-black star print dress earlier this month, while Jessica Alba recently looked ethereal in a floaty maxi dress.

Feeling starry-eyed? Fortunately, your budget doesn't need to be out of this world to get you Rosario's star-studded look. UK retailer ASOS has a fabulous inspired by option that will only cost you $77.58. Although the dress' sleeves are less pronounced and its print is slightly bolder, it caputures the galactic vibe for the gal on a budget.

Rihanna Goes Vintage In London

Earlier today, Rihanna rocked a vintage inspired look as she stepped out in the streets of London. She was spotted on Oxford Street headed into the House of Fraser where she promoted her new perfume Reb’l Fleur. The classic hair and shades were everything!

I love the fringe/feather top, but the pants are just not tailored enough for me. They leave Rihanna looking wide, in the water, and undone. :-/
