This summer, we brought you the news that Kate Spade New York was about to launch a new brand called Saturday—a line "more casual than anything [Kate Spade] has done before," according to then-secret sources. Well, today we can confirm that Kate Spade is, indeed, launching a new label called Saturday—and that it will hit stores this spring and, also, will be awesome.
According to a statement released by the company just after midnight this morning, the new lifestyle brand will include clothing—dresses, outerwear, denim, casual separates, knitwear, and swim—accessories including bags, jewelry, timepieces, shoes, and eyewear, as well as beauty products, home goods, and tableware. Prices will range from about $25 for home products to $30 for jewelry, $50 for watches, and an average MSRP of $90 for clothing items.
"Through ongoing research, we saw an opportunity in the market to engage a new customer base—one that aspires to be a part of the Kate Spade New York brand," said CEO Craig Leavitt. "Kate Spade Saturday is born from the core values of Kate Spade New York, but is realized in a new and exciting way for this younger customer."Kate Spade Saturday will launch in Japan this February at saturday.jp and at a brick-and-mortar store in Tokyo. The brand will launch in the United States online at saturday.com in the spring. Look for a sneak peek at the products (before spring officially hits) on fab.com in 2013!
