We Love: Laquan Smith LQS Hard Candy Spring/Summer 2011 Lookbook

Wunderkind designer Laquan Smith is feeling bright and flirtatious this Spring. His latest collection for the LQS line, entitled Hard Candy, welcomes warm weather with an array of adorable pieces with vibrant hues, playful prints and skin-tight silhouettes.

With names like Mimosa, Blue Raspberry, Sour Apple and Praline & Cream, the pieces evoke summer memories of endless brunch dates and delectable candy on your grandmother’s porch. The silhouettes, however, are anything but sweet.

Candy colors are juxtaposed with plunging necklines and bare midriffs that give the looks plenty of bite. With spandex fabric and dangerously high hems, these pieces are not for the faint of heart.

Known for imbuing high-fashion techniques with his signature, glamorous flair, Mr. Smith employs Spring 2011 trends like jumpsuits and color-blocking here to great effect. Trendy starlets like Selita Ebanks have already been spotted wearing the look.
