Thanks to the world of fashion blogging, street style has turned up the heat! Now for Fashion Week there is just as much inspiration to be found on the street as there is on the runways. Check out our favorite street styles from the Spring 2012 fashion shows in New York, London, Paris and Milan!
The two hottest trends at fashion week, both on and off the runway, were bold hues and color-blocking! This street-styler perfected the art of both with a hot pink high-waisted mini, a red jersey blouse and a collarless kelly green coat draped over her shoulders. Part of mastering the style is focusing on only three varying colors, so this fashionista smartly finished off her look with matching green pumps.
Bold prints, like that of this '60s inspired romper, were popular statement-making pieces on the streets of Fashion Week. How do we like our prints? In small doses to pack a powerful punch while not overwhelming the eye. Pair them with tribal jewelry, chunky necklaces and a wrist full of bangles to make the look your own.
Did we mention bright colors were big this season? We loved the creative draping of this stunning street-styler by making a vibrant print handkerchief into a summery blouse and pairing the top with bold red shorts and a funky pair of fuchsia boots.
We witnessed all shapes and styles of Peter Pan collars along the streets of Fashion Week and in a multitude of collections like Jason Wu's fantastically feminine line. A particularly stand-out interpretation of the style was this chic show-goer sporting a pair of leather leggings with a tweed jacket over a provocatively cropped Peter Pan top.
Anna Dello Russo, Japan Vogue's editor-at-large is definitely a Fashion Week highlight. The zany fashion maven brings a new exciting look every day. One of her most memorable this year was her yellow feathered Versace frock that she wore with royal blue suede heels and sparkling cat eye shades.
As Marie Claire's style and accessories director, Taylor Tomasi Hill is a Fashion Week regular. Lucky us, because she never ceases to bring out the most fantastic fashions. One of her stunning FW ensembles entailed a square-print silk blouse with a high-waisted angular black-and-white skirt.
For a school girl meets Great Gatsby look, this fashion show-goer donned a long-sleeve sheath dress with a pleated hem and heavily beaded collar. The prep theme was taken for a twist with a pair of funky neon oxfords with hot pink accents.
It's hard to go wrong with a shirt dress. The look is super-versatile and can conform to many different style aesthetics from retro to laid-back, boho to sophisticated. We adored the simplicity of this white blousy shirt dress paired with red patent accessories and leopard print cat eye sunglasses.
